Slimey aquarium decorations?

This question is just out of curiousity, my tank (10 gallon) and fish (only neons) are perfectly fine. Everytime i clean my aquarium when i touch some of the rocks, decorations, or fake plants i feel some sort of slimey coat. This coat usually rubs off easily. It’s not green or anything, no coloring or anything. Could it be from the dechlorinator?

What exactly IS this slimey coat? Is it organic, alive?
Oh and any links or info or personal experience is appreciated, thanks in advance :)
if it’s algae, would an algae eater somewhat help?

How should I clean a fishtank (+rocks+ornaments) for storage so that it will still be safe for new fish later?

Unfortunately, my last guppy (Ernest) has died. I don’t want to get any new fish at the moment, just pack it up. Is there anything that won’t store (it’s got rocks and ornaments and fake plants)? As it won’t be reinhabited immediately, can I use anything stronger than plain water to clean it that won’t affect later inhabitants? Any tips on storing it? It’s made of hard plastic. Thanks.

My fish tank decorations and fake plants are turning orange?

I have a ten gallon fish tank, and the decorations that we had put in there are turing orange. I have live plants, fake plants, a large crystal with the matrix still attached, and a small broken "Roman" style column. Almost all of the crystal and the column are covered with this orange stuff. What is it?
