Starting a Freshwater Aquarium… fish, plants, decorations, gravel…?! Help!?
Alright so my friends and I were thinking about starting a new FRESHWATER aquarium. We have a tank with a filter… I can’t remember if it’s 5 or 10 gallons…. pretty sure its 5… anywho. We want fish! lots! Well, not lots but more than 3. And we were hoping for something else like a snail or a frog or even a water snake. So Im wondering what type of fish would be good. (and other creatures) And now i need good deco ideas! Gravel is a given, what else?
Details, details! thanks allot!
Alright lets just say i get a 20 gallon. Now what.
PS NO GOLDFISH or bettas!
OH! and fish that breed would be just FANTASTIC!

Where can I find good aquarium decorations?
I’m looking for good quality, inexpensive rocks and driftwood for my freshwater aquarium. I don’t really know what qualifies as inexpensive, though. In local fish stores, I see slate and granite for about .29/lb., and small-to-medium sized driftwood for up to . Can anyone think of a better place to look for this stuff where it’s cheaper than a retail fish shop? I’m in Austin, TX, so local places would be much better.

I would like to make my own freshwater aquarium decorations, specifically, The Alamo. What can I use to make it that would be safe for my future fish?
I was thinking more along the lines of creating it with plaster or something along those lines, that is not water soluable, and is non-toxic.
