Starting a Freshwater Aquarium… fish, plants, decorations, gravel…?! Help!?

Alright so my friends and I were thinking about starting a new FRESHWATER aquarium. We have a tank with a filter… I can’t remember if it’s 5 or 10 gallons…. pretty sure its 5… anywho. We want fish! lots! Well, not lots but more than 3. And we were hoping for something else like a snail or a frog or even a water snake. So Im wondering what type of fish would be good. (and other creatures) And now i need good deco ideas! Gravel is a given, what else?

Alright lets just say i get a 20 gallon. Now what.

PS NO GOLDFISH or bettas!
OH! and fish that breed would be just FANTASTIC!

My goldfish seems to be scared of my aquarium decorations… why?

I just went to wal-mart and got new decorations things for my aquarium. I have 2 goldfish and a Pleco in 1 tank. One goldfish and the Pleco are fine, and are happily swimming around, but the fantail goldfish seems to be scared. He stays on the far left side of the tank, even when I fed them. Also, I tryed pushing him to the right side with the net, and once he got to the left side he just swam back to the left side and stayed there… Any suggestions or reasoning to why my fish is doing this? Any help would be great. Thanks

i have a fishtank and some of the fish seem to be scraping themselves on the gravel?

it has only been set up for just over a week-it is 2 foot and i’m keeping coldwater fish. a few goldfish, 2 carp, a catfish and a couple of tiny fish. the carp and the tiny fish seem to be scraping themselves across the gravel and the ornament. what can this be? and how to treat?

Unique fishtank ornaments?

My friend has a big tank (maybe 50 gallons?) and some really big (like 6-8 inch) goldfish, which he LOVES.
I want to get him a really neat ornament, not just a castle or sunken ship.
Can you please recommend a website, or a store in southern California that caries really cool ones, like "the thinker" sculptures or ones that light up?

How do you free a fish from a fish tank ornament?! (HURRY IT'S URGENT!)?

Please help me. My poor goldfish has gotten itself stuck in the fish tank ornanment (a treasure chest to be precise…plastic i think). It’s been trapped there for a few hours now….we can’t think of what to do…we don’t want to hurt it! Please help!
